help a woman through childbirth; labor, comfort measures, medical 

procedures and more for the partner) 

 Active Birth by Janet Balakas (in-depth treatment of natural birth, in 

or out of the hospital) 

Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin (empowering birth 

stories and lots of good information about the importance of 

relaxation and how you view birth) 

 Birthing From Within by Pam England and Rob Horowitz (honors how 

you are created and helps a woman find her own way to go with nature 

and her body)
